Chemistry just isn't chemistry without laboratory experiments such as chemical reactions, stoichiometry, flame tests, and acid base titrations. Chemical splash goggles are a must for any chemistry laboratory. If we had a UV sanitizing goggle cabinet we could safely return to the chemistry lab.
After each class period, high energy ultraviolet light will sanitize our Safety Goggles by killing the bacteria and viruses that cause pinkeye, the common cold, influenza, and even COVID-19!
If we were to get a goggle sanitizer, my students can safely conduct chemistry labs again! This would have such a big impact on their learning. For example, they could make mini Hydrogen Fuel Cells by reacting hydrochloric acid with zinc, then react the hydrogen gas with oxygen to form water vapor and send their mini rockets across the room! This would only be safe if we had sanitized goggles to protect their eyes and prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Please fund our project so my students can return to DOING chemistry!
