In order to foster a love for reading, I think it's imperative that students are given every opportunity to read and that is why these novels will be read in the classroom and students will also be allowed to check them out so they can learn from home. I have found that some students who struggle with reading do not have the confidence to read in the classroom but if given the chance, they will read from home so there is no pressure from their peers. I have had students read a book at home and come back to my classroom and want to discuss the book in detail. They ask higher order thinking questions or give detailed summaries of the book, which validates the importance of a classroom library.
