The magnetic easel and all of the magnetic manipulatives will be a tremendous assett in my classroom. I strive to find new and exciting ways to teach reading. Since not every student learns the same way, I need a variety of methods to ensure that every student is learning.
Students excel when they are actively engaged in a lesson, magnetic manipulatives will provide each student the opportunity to experience a hands on approach to reading. Many of my students have difficulty hearing the phonetic sounds in words. By using magnetic letters they will be able to form words sound by sound as they hear the word and to visually see the word simultaneously . This will help students remember words and word patterns.
One great way to teach this skill will be to use different color magnetic letters to show vowels, blends, consonant digraphs and vowel digraphs. Seeing these patterns in words, will help my students have a better understanding of the English language. These supplies will help all of my students become fluent readers and hopefully to find a love for reading that will last their entire lifetime!
