Students got used to learning comfortably while at home during COVID-19. Many have found that a traditional classroom with desks and chairs is uncomfortable and not their best way to stay focused.
Flexible seating allows for social and emotional connections in small groups, choice around the classroom, and less intense lighting than overhead fluorescent lighting. Students will feel more comfortable having small group academic conversations about books and articles. The layout will allow them to peer review writing more collaboratively. Flexible seating and soft lighting will meet the needs of students struggling to be in a school building by making it feel less sterile and more welcoming.
