Once our daily language arts lessons are complete, my students enjoy moving around the room to get comfortable during their independent work time. When I asked their input on what should be added to our classroom to help them learn comfortably, a large area rug was their number one choice. Comfortable seating, different lighting, and small lap desks were some of the other options that they felt would make the room feel more comfortable during their work time. Because our classroom is not carpeted, I feel a rug would help create more space for them to spread out more comfortably around the room.
