Because many of my students have only known remote learning, I would like to give them hands on resources to help them explore our curriculum topics.
I am starting a writing unit that will get them excited about acquiring knowledge to then share it through writing in their very own hardbound book! For this unit, I will need various books about bears, both non-fiction and fiction, to compare and contrast as well as to pull information from that they can then write in their own informational text to be shared during our Literacy Night as a school.
I would like a set of readers that I can send home with struggling readers. I also want to put objects in their hands that they can explore tacitly as they then are challenged to put the word on to paper by sounding it out. For example, if they pull a monkey out of the M phonics tub, then they will need to use that word in a sentence and sound out the word monkey, thus taking our letter of the day exploration a step further.
