The materials I have requested will help my students learn by making speech therapy more fun, memorable, and engaging. Preschoolers learn best by interacting with toys and other physical objects. These materials will help make the play therapy I provide more interesting as well as make it easier to target different language concepts, both in individual and group therapy.
Many of my students this year are more delayed in language and social skills than students in previous years due to reduced interaction with peers and others because of COVID. Effective speech therapy is more important than ever because of the effects of COVID. The toys and other materials I have requested will help target many language concepts in therapy. The figurines will provide an opportunities to sort boy versus girl, teach pronouns, and target 鈥渨ho鈥 questions. The bubble toys, sensory vibrating toy, jack-in-the-box, and shark popper will provide opportunities to practice joint attention, cause and effect, and requests. The puppets will provide opportunities to follow directions as the students feed the named items to the puppet. The magnets will be used to create an articulation game, and the pop-it will also be used as an articulation reinforcement. The tent will be used to encourage my busy friends to remain engaged in one place during speech time. The books have each been selected to target specific language targets. Each item on the list will benefit my students greatly, and I appreciate the support.
