A peaceful place to read in the classroom will create an overall sense of safety from what is currently going on in the world. My ELA students have frequent silent sustained reading time to spend in their independently selected books, and a quiet, more relaxing area to do this will not only help promote the love of reading, it will offer them a feeling of home while doing so. Recently, a fire at the school destroyed my classroom including the library seating and books. Giving my students a calm place to read and books to start the class library will help the overall attitude towards school in a troubled time. Thank you for giving back to my students. This grant will allow a place where anxiety is low and learning is high.
