Scholatic Scope Magazine's multimedia tools, differentiation resources, and access to interesting leveled, multigenre texts are game-changers for my classroom. My students need relevant and timely texts to hold their interest, and I need the tools to help them master grade-level Oklahoma state standards even though they’re having to claw their way up this year. Knowing that each month will bring a new paired text, a new voice, and a new connection for my students at a time when they have never felt more isolated, is increasingly important. I have been paying for a subscription of 10 issues a month (the lowest you can purchase) by myself, just so I can capture interest and tie in needed activities to match my pacing guide. With the price of pretty much everything - including the kitchen sink - going up, and with four school-aged kids of my own to raise and combat the issues brought on with the pandemic, this grant and Donors Choose support would be such an asset and a sigh of relief in a year that has very much felt like one long held-in breath.
