COVID-19 has changed the way I structure my classroom especially with projects that use shared resources. There is a clear need for additional instruments to ensure increased social distancing and less physical contact between student groups. With more instruments, more students will get to interact with them on a daily basis in the classroom and allow us to collaborate and create music together. High quality instruments enrich in-person learning so that when we inevitably have to pivot to distance learning, students have an understanding of how these instruments work and can draw on these more tangible experiences to complete their assignments.
