A hands-on approach to learning helps appeal to multiple learning types and helps make science fun. The supplies listed will benefit all middle school science students at my school. We can ship these supplies home for students who may be learning remote, so they can still have the hands on approach. We will use the supplies in several different projects throughout the year. For example, my students will use the rubber bands, wooden sticks, cd’s, straws and hot glue guns to create rubber band powered cars to demonstrate the transfer of elastic potential energy to kinetic energy, as well as calculating speed and velocity. We will use the hot plates/ burners to complete our can crusher lab when we talk about matter & particle speed in solids, liquids & gases. This is a few examples of the many projects we can do to connect the concepts of our lesson to a hands on project.
