Because of the pandemic, many of my kindergarten students have had little to no experience with a school setting and/or with age-appropriate interactions. Because of this, most students are lacking social skills such as sharing, turn taking, pragmatic and social cues, etc. I am asking for items that will allow students to work on the skills they are lacking through play, interactive manipulatives, and fine-motor, hands-on interaction. Many of the manipulatives and toys requested are to stimulate their imagination and learn important lessons while having fun. Many of my students struggle with their fine motor skills, and the use of these tools and manipulatives will help to increase their skills. With all of the new materials, additional storage and organization becomes a need in my classroom. Therefore, I am requesting several storage containers to help organize their fun. I am looking forward to sharing all of the materials with my class and watching them interact with one another. Because of their varied backgrounds, the social interactions will provide opportunities for students to learn from one another. Learning through play opens a world of imagination that I am eager to enhance for my students.
