I am requesting this camera to help our students document the wonderful things that go on at Plaza Park throughout the year. The students would contribute to our school newsletter, yearbook, and social media feeds. The students do not currently have any photography or video equipment at their disposal besides personal cellphones.
I want to give the students of Plaza Park a new lens to view the world through and give them a new perspective on things. This new camera would be the gateway to new opportunities for many of these students by giving them experience and showing them what it takes to compose high quality photos and videos. It would also provide a chance to capture many new subjects at school events and activities.
As we move further into the digital world, giving students the ability to create high quality images become more important. We would be using this camera to improve our newsletter with engaging stories paired with capturing visuals. Our yearbook could have more student ownership by putting their perspective behind a camera into the yearly recap of their daily lives. Social media is the new refrigerator "wall of fame" so why not give these students the ability to show off their friends and classmates in a high quality manner? Students would be sent to extracurricular activities to capture photos and video that they could then edit to showcase through our various forms of media at Plaza Park. This could be the nudge some students need to take their creativity to the next level!
