Sensory tables are meant to encourage children to explore by touch. This open-ended activity supports creativity and imagination while developing fine motor skills, language skills, critical thinking skills, and also serves as a 'cool down' tool to help students who may become overwhelmed or need to take a break. These are all life skills children need in order to succeed and become the bright, young learners they are and may have been lacking due to the covid-19 pandemic. My students will be so engaged in playing with their sensory table, they won't even realize they are learning!
