The pandemic has caused an unwanted weight of stress and uncertainty for many of my students, in one way or another. The current items requested would allow me to organize and design my classroom in a way that could further provide a constructive and welcoming environment for my students.
Research has shown that time spent working creatively can help to reverse the effects of trauma. During the pandemic, our students have been subjected to many adult themes and frequent temporary displacements from their classrooms. These instabilities have affected many students' potential to focus on their work when they can be in their classrooms.
With the addition of these items to our classroom, students will be allowed the opportunities to grow both intellectually and emotionally. We can continue to build our strong sense of community while learning through adaptation and innovation.
