Many of my third graders are reading at a below 3rd grade reading level due to the pandemic. They have had to either participate in virtual learning all year or have been back and forth with in-person and virtual learning during quarantines. They have missed out of important reading instruction.
My third graders would love to have more flexible seating options in our classroom. Our classroom has hard-wood floors with only one rug. I currently have two cushions that my students squabble over, and it’s time they have more options for independent reading time, small group guided reading instruction, and during partner and independent work. My students will use these materials to enhance their motivation by selecting their own work areas as well as be more engaged and focused in their reading and learning. I want my students to feel comfortable in a warm and inviting classroom that is also conducive to learning.
Your generous donation will bring smiles to my third graders’ faces and relief to this teacher, who is tired of listening to the squabbles of her students each day as to who had the two cushions last! Having flexible seating in my classroom will benefit many learners for years to come!
