Additional music stands will allow our students to be more spread out while learning our music in class. This will help follow CDC guidelines on spacing in the classroom. Additionally, it will promote a greater sense of individual responsibility in preparing their music. By spreading out more, students understand that they are responsible for learning their own part, and cannot rely solely on the people around them.
Individual responsibilities in making music extend to life skills beyond the band room. By holding these students accountable for learning their own music, it helps prepare them for their future. While making music individually is great, what is best is making it together with the other students in the band. Having the flexibility to transport our music stands and store them will help our students experience all aspects of making music - individually and collectively.
