Flexible seating gives the students some control and choice in their day. Children at this age need to move and this flexible seating will allow them to bounce, sit on the floor, lean or stand up. When you allow children to move it keeps them more alert and helps with focus. Flexible seating also helps the students be comfortable throughout their day. When they are comfortable, they are less distracted and more productive. Since I teach so many different learning styles, flexible seating will help the students find which space works best for them. It also will teach them to take turns and solve problems since the choice is theirs. My students work in small groups so this seating will allow for collaboration and discussion. I want my students to have a learning environment that is positive and helps them learn best while at the same time having fun and enjoying school.
