My students need compartments where all of their belongings can be stored and accessible. The current storage situation requires a great deal of floor space. I will use the floor space to create a better library setting and a space for a technology center. The library area will give students a place to sit and read comfortably. I want students to use the reading area as a place to relax, read, and build their reading stamina.
The school is now a one-to-one school. Students use their devices to access learning websites. The websites are designed to help students learn at their pace. Headphones are imperative for success on websites. The classroom noise is sometimes distracting to students using devices. The school is a low-income rural school, and some families are not able to provide headphones.
Students have suffered from the pandemic and have struggled to close the gap in mastering skills. I have several students who have not been in traditional school and did virtual learning. Students who have been home since the pandemic started, struggle with the traditional school structure.
My students need spaces for students who are struggling to master skills. The unmastered skills will only hinder their learning capabilities for years to come. My students need available space to help close the gaps in their learning deficiencies.
