Much of 5th grade math is a multi-step process from long division to order of operations. Because of that, they need to be able to see each step. Interactive individual whiteboards and materials will help in this greatly. As we practice our skills, students can pair/share easily the math concepts they are working on, hold it up for me to check as we work, and easily fix mistakes that tend to become a mess on paper.
Because of the various learning gaps my students have in light of the pandemic, there are many times that my students need individualized help. A whiteboard teacher table would allow me to easily work interactively with individual students on their long division, multip-step multiplication, order of operations, and many other math standards we cover in 5th grade.
Along with that I hope to incorporate the whiteboard table into one of my math centers where multiple students can work with me or work as a collective group to flesh out their math ideas for projects and work on their interactive centers.
