My students are in need of resources that supports their academic and social emotional needs, to know that they have choices. The importance of each child, take ownership of their own book, and developing the own self-identity in this world. I want them to be able to take the book home and read in their favorite spot and be able to share their feelings with peers and school community. To learn strategies, to support learning with bookmarks, highlighters or even bending the pages back to save their spot.
My vision is to encourage discourse and growth, to assist them to become problem solvers and higher order thinkers. To hear the children's likes and dislikes about the book. I want them to see how I care for my books that I take home.
To encourage them to share their books with others. To share books with their siblings and classmates is truly showing a person that you care for them.
