My project would allow more support for all of my learners. As a result of the pandemic and online learning, my students need more instructional support than ever. Adding an iPad to our current technology toolbox would benefit both my students and myself. This iPad would provide necessary modeling and instruction during class but also to those learning virtually. We read many short stories and articles throughout the year. I require annotations and text connections to create active readers. Having a class iPad would provide an opportunity to model the process of annotating and connecting to literature to my class. It would also allow the modeling of writing sentences, paragraphs, and essays as we go through the writing process together.
An iPad would allow effective and efficient feedback to enable revising and editing to occur during the writing process. As my students work in Google Classroom, the iPad would empower me to be mobile in my classroom. Being able to move around the classroom while instructing and giving feedback would be amazing! The iPad would also provide a tool for recording lessons for virtual students.
Also, a class set of headphones would strongly benefit my students. Our students are at so many different learning levels as a result of lost instruction time due to the pandemic. Using our classroom technology, my students would have the ability to watch supporting instructional videos that accompany class assignments. This would customize the delivery of supportive instruction allowing for differentiation in my classroom. Together, the iPad and headphones would also accommodate virtual learning and inclusion when needed.
Lastly, a classroom laminator and writing reward stickers would be fantastic! Our students need to be excited about their learning, and these tools would help bring that to them by adding fun ways of learning and rewards.
