First thing in the morning a Pre-K classroom can feel a bit busy, to say the least! We are all unpacking, chatting with our friends, and warming up our brains. Transitioning from home to school can be challenging for some. I have been searching for a way to help my students with this morning transition. I wanted something for my students that would be independent, stress-free, and hands-on. I believe the answer to this transition period is individual task boxes. These task boxes will be filled with hands-on activities that will help to warm up students' minds and creativity for a day full of learning! These task boxes will not only be engaging but also meet each student's individual needs.
All of my students are growing and developing daily, but they are all going through this process at different paces. By implementing individual skill task boxes in my classroom, I will be able to focus in on each student's individual needs in math, literacy, and motor skills. Some students might be working on a name writing activity in their box, and other students are working on letter identification in theirs. Even if task boxes are out for a short time each day, it will be a very powerful time. If students are working on skills they need extra practice with every single day, they are going to grow more and more confident in the given skill. Before we know it, they will have mastered so many skills and be on the road to becoming not only a confident learner but one that loves to learn!
