My Pre-K students thrive during activities that encourage them to explore their world. They benefit most from hands-on activities that provide opportunities for them to work together while discovering new things and expanding their vocabulary.
I would like to grow my sweet scientists' vocabulary by giving them an opportunity to research animals while discussing their discoveries. An animal research station with engaging hands-on materials would accomplish those goals. My Pre-K students would love a classroom station with animal specimens, tools, and materials to research their favorite topic. They would discover various animals' habitats, what they eat, how they move, and what they look like while comparing and contrasting animal features. They would discuss these "findings" with others in their group, expanding their place, food, movement, and describing vocabulary. My Pre-K students would be enthralled by the specimen boxes, animal puzzles, matching activities and animal collections. They will love finding foods that each animal eats and matching the animals to their habitats. This research station will give them a wonderful opportunity to excitedly discuss all of their discoveries about the world around them.
