Building eco-columns will help my students better understand how all the systems on Earth work together. Students will better understand how the water cycle and carbon cycle work together to maintain the environment in which we all live. Building both the aquatic and terrestrial parts of our planet on a smaller scale, they will be able to observe how they work together to clean our water and air, and how they remove pollutants from water, air and soil. These systems are so important to our planet and the world we live in and this project will help to emphasize to the students, how we need to develop ways to protect this planet that we live on to ensure the continuation of life for both us and all of the organisms that we share it with.
