This resource will positively impact students' life skills and food security through basic culinary education. We will use the electric convection range to teach students how to cook so they are more self-sufficient after finishing high school. Furthermore, we will incorporate lessons concerning healthy cooking and eating habits to enhance overall wellness.
Food insecurity is a significant obstacle for our students and an electric convection range will alleviate this issue in both the short- and long-run. The food prepared during class projects will either be eaten by students during the school day or sent home with students to ensure they have meals outside of school hours. Teenagers need to eat a sufficient number of calories for physical and mental health. It is difficult for students to learn if they are worried about where their next meal will come from.
In the long-run, our life skills lessons utilizing this electric convection range will allow students to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their families. This is an invaluable skill that they can use for the rest of their lives.
