In our English class, we use our interactive notebooks on a daily basis. Students are encouraged to color code their information so that it is easily identifiable. We use colored pens, markers, and colored pencils. We have a bucket that students can borrow these items as needed. Sometimes these pens get lost, are used up or just walk away! I am excited to have a big selection of colors for the students to choose from.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student engagement and understanding, but you will ultimately promote an increase in academic achievement as the students not only "hear and see" their skills, but now they can "do" these tasks.
Students will be able to engage their learning of the standards through hands-on learning. Using mentor texts in the ELA classroom leads to an art based learning where each child has an entry point. We use clay, play doh, pastels, markers, crayons, and colored pens to create meaningful work. Students remember 80 percent of what they personally experience. We are so excited to enjoy these new supplies!
