Since the shift in learning, my students need quality headphones that have a microphone, computer mice to help better navigate pages on the computer, and the opportunity to use blue light filter glasses. My class has made a switch to integrate online learning platforms and the use of individual headphones will keep students directed to their own devices. Students are able to work at their own pace and various learning programs are able to read the questions or passages to students, depending on their skill level. Currently, this causes a distraction to students when students do not have headphones to use. The storage drawer will allow a safe place to keep the headphones and increase responsibility in taking care of classroom supplies. Blue light filter glasses will be available to students who experience eye strain from using the Chromebooks.
Not all learning takes place on Chromebooks, there are some activities that need the use of pencils, coloring pencils and paper. Our current pencil sharpener sharpens the pencils lopsided or eats the pencils rather than sharpening them effectively. A new sharpener will cut down on the time spent at the pencil sharpening area.
