To bring my dream learning activity to life, I’d love to get four Oregon Scientific Smart Globes. These are state of the art devices that will directly enhance and enrich my lectures and assignments in Western Hemisphere Geography for 6th graders, Eastern Hemisphere Geography for 7th graders, and U.S. History and Government for 8th graders.
As a result of at-home learning, students have become accustomed to focusing on technology - these globes will add a much-needed technological and interactive dimension to my classroom lectures and assignments. To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I would use the globes (equipped with 20,000+ fun facts, 42 games, and test quizzes) to build interest in world geography, the United States, and how the Coronavirus has affected the entire world.
To make an upcoming unit more engaging, my students would love to use the interactive features of the globes to study for tests, check their knowledge, and to simply visually locate countries and their relative location to the U.S. Since we have no globes whatsoever in the classroom, the addition of these devices would greatly increase the visual aspect of world geography and generate excitement for learning!
