Over the past few year's Covid 19 has greatly impacted not only academic learning but more importantly their social/emotional well beings. As an Early Childhood teacher, I spend a great deal of time and energy on teaching into social and emotional skills both formally and through play. I am finding that students coming to school last year and this year are lacking in their social skills. Teaching social and emotional skills is part of our Pre-K curriculum. There are standards that we are to meet each year with a number of those skills that fall on our annual report card. The materials that I am requesting will help create an environment for impromptu teaching, will help build a literacy rich environment through communication and play with their peers, and will allow for positive interactions while demonstrating kindness and compassion.
