To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I believe that I can still use project base learning. In today's technologically driven world, the ability to work on electrical components is rapidly becoming a very valuable skill. In my Adulting 101 class, it is my job to prepare my students for life outside of high school. This means, in order to make my upcoming life skills unit more engaging, my students would love for me to be teaching them valuable hands on skills skills like soldering!
These materials will make it possible for my students to learn the basics of soldering electrical components by proving them a hands on learning project that goes beyond watching "how to" videos. It is my hope that all of my students who are able to participate in this project will walk away with a better understand of how basic electronics work and how to make simple soldering repairs when necessary.
To bring my dream learning activity to life, I am requesting everything necessary to introduce my students to soldering. These materials, which include soldering kits that teach students how to solder together basic components to build a radio, will give my students access to a valuable skill not taught in any other high school classroom on campus. In light of COVID-19, I believe that hands-on projects like these are crucial for learning and the best part about these kits is that they can easily be sent home with students in the event of distance learning.
