Using hands on projects to help with reading and science skills as well as independent living are essential. Students will be able to build individual projects by following directions. They will be able to work as a group on some projects and end up with a product.
Learning to follow directions is a very important lifelong skill. Many of my students are from low income homes and never had an opportunity to complete these types of projects in their homes. These basic skills can be used for more advanced projects as students mature.
