My Horticulture students work many hours in the greenhouse classroom lab. Our classes are held there from February to May of the school year. We learn proper planting methods, soil types, propagating, daily care and the complete plant life cycle.
What we learn in this classroom is shared school-wide and in our community. We assist younger students in planting a pot for their Mother's Day gifts and assist community members in the designing and planting of their outdoor planters. Students also market their planters and various bedding plants to the community. We learn marketing skills, product display, customer service and skills for future employment.
