To help my students learn amid the pandemic, I could use decodable readers, like the Bob Books set. My students are struggling to read and decodables will help build their confidence as they build reading skills. I will use these decodables during small group, as well as allow students to take them home so they can show their parents their progress.
Learning to read is hard and scary, and I believe confidence goes a long way with encouraging my students to continue reading. Accomplishment is a great motivator to keep students going! It has been so rewarding watching my students transition from being anxious during reading time to asking when it is time to read.
