COVID-19 has created a huge gap in many students at our school. They lack the help at home in the form of both parental support and internet/resources needed to do additional work outside of school.
In addition, our school has very limited resources for additional staff members, and one area we lack is anyone to measure and detect early learning deficiencies. We have begun to use a program that has a built in component to do those, however they require us to use tablets and headphones with built in microphones. The tests take 5-7 minutes each, and with 3 headphones for the entire school (like we have right now), getting all kindergarten through 3rd graders tested every other month will be a huge drain of precious time in our classroom that could be used to focus on other areas of learning.
The other items selected will help with our WIN students (tier 3) in closing the gap created by some of them opting to do distance learning in the past or homeschooling (but not coming back to the classroom at the same level as their peers).
