There are many resources that go into a successful classroom. Sometimes those resources get old, broken, or maybe it's just time for a change. My students deserve the very best and have the best tools to do the job.
Our school is made up of a majority of low-income households and students may not have access to renew their resources when needed. Headphones are used every day in our class and about half of my students have had to throw theirs away after they have broken. If we had some on hand for them to use, this would be a huge burden off of those families.
We do a lot of indoor recess when the weather is cold, like it is right now. Our games/puzzles, etc. are in rough shape with missing pieces and broken boxes. This would make indoor recess and their end of day reward time that much more special to them! Our school has limited resources for teachers and that leaves it up to us to spend our own money and gather what we need. Our school provides us with a black and white printer, leaving us to find our own color printer. The printer we had in our classroom finally bit the dust, leaving us with no color printer to print those beautiful graphics for our classroom. This would add so much color to our lives in our first-grade classroom and bring posters, charts and pictures back to life for my students who thrive off of visual learning.
Teaching in a pandemic has been the hardest job teachers have ever seen and any support we receive, we are beyond grateful for. My students will be so excited to see new resources in our room that needs a tune up!
