My students must broaden their horizons if they are to work hard towards their goals in the Art Industry, especially outside of their town. Living in a small, rural town can be hard for these kids because they don't know what's all out there and I want our school to teach them everything we can before they leave. With these materials I can teach them things they never knew they would get to do, like print making and mixed media projects. Printmaking is something that has been missing in these kids' curriculum this year and mixed media is an important form of art making that involves a lot of creative thinking that my students would do phenomenally in.
Art is not just one category, it is subjective, and ever changing. It is my duty as these kids' teacher to show them that. With life, COVID changes our way of living and learning as well. I will not let COVID stifle our way of learning the arts and show the kids we can persevere and keep learning.
