My 5th grade students are provided a calm and positive classroom environment, but they could absolutely benefit from having flexible seating options. As of right now they tend to find a spot in the floor sometimes or even just standing at their tables. My kids come in expecting to think outside of the box while working in their groups or even at their tables. They are welcome to sit however they need if it helps them to work better and is not a distraction to those around them. I want my students to freely move about as needed, and would LOVE to provide them with flexible seating options other than the floor.
Having flexible seating that can be rotated or even used as incentives would be a great break from their norm, and an extra spark to our classroom setting. I would also think my 5 grade math students could also benefit from having math toolbox kits that they could check out and take home as needed for homework. Even during class time would make things simple and more efficient to have some Math Manipulatives easily accessible at tables with multiple options inside. Anything that offers easy access in the classroom and can be brought home for additional help as well is a major win for my hands on learners!
