Emerging band students need to develop listening skills! This is done in several ways, and one of these is listening to recordings of professional musicians. Listening to professionals helps students hear correct technique and style. In order to do this we need quality sound speakers that will replace the twenty-five year old speakers we are currently using. A second important activity is to provide a tuning drone and metronome to teach tuning and tempo/timing skills.
Updating our equipment in order to provide a clearer sound for students will help them replicate technique, style, sound, tempo and timing. These skills have taken a step backwards due to missed rehearsals and reduced practice time during the Covid crisis.
Our current speakers are of poor quality and make it difficult to accomplish our goals. Updating our equipment will our students to grow and excel in their musicianship.
