My students love bringing literacy to life! So many of my students have never experienced the hands-on type of teaching that I promote. By allowing the students to create their own type of masterpieces that correlate with our stories it helps to reinforce the ideas and show them that reading is truly fun!
Literacy should be in full color! What better way to understand Mark Twain than to be able to visualize him in full color? With these supplies my students will be engaged in active learning of the literacy units through the use of hands-on art and creativity projects. Even with the limited supplies I currently have, the students have shown an increase in their retention rate of our novels and short-stories.
These projects help students to create real-life connections through the literature that they would normally not be able to see through just a traditional read through. The supplies are so important to help my alternative learners achieve success in reading. With the huge impact Covid has had on our students, it is more important than ever to make reading fun!
