Due to Covid, my 21 second grade students have missed out so much on school. Not only have they been missing out academically, but also emotionally. I would love to keep my students up to date on everything that they have been missing out on. My students have worked so hard every day to meet their goals, but with these books, snacks, and helpful tools for the classroom, they will be able to achieve much more. Sadly, they know they are behind academically from Covid, but they are working so very hard to get back on track. The new books will motivate them to want to read more! Along with the chair, this will be for them to use when they gain the confidence to read to their classmates! They love having the spotlight on themselves and this would give them a big confidence boost to be able to sit in the chair in front of the room as they read to their classmates or answer questions! The snacks are to fill their little bellies because our school is a very low poverty area and my students are always hungry and I try to keep food in their bellies at all times. If they are worried about their next meal, then they can’t focus on what they need to be learning in school. Thank you for this opportunity, it is greatly appreciated!
