The novels Refugee and The Hunger Games will continue to help expose students to different genres of reading that they may not choose on their own. Some students shy away from traditional novels, and gravitate towards graphic novels. My hope is to build a interest in historical fiction and fantasy novels too.
I read the novels with the students in class, hearing their discussions, and how they identify with characters in the novels is so exciting.
Getting actual novels in their hands is the best way to foster the love of reading. These novels will open students eyes to exciting themes in books.
