The speech language materials requested will help my students overcome their speech language disabilities by improving oral language skills, listening comprehension skills, early literacy skills, and articulation skills. These resources will be used in Headstart centers, day care centers, and elementary school settings with preschool and kindergarten age children, many of whom live in homes where there are no toys, books or attentive adults. The development of these early speech and language skills will increase the odds that these kids will develop age-appropriate reading skills. Research shows that language and speech skills correlate with literacy skills, which we know to be foundational in educational and life success.
