My students have been studying the Chinese culture. They have learned many fascinating things about an awesome country that is different from their own. They have marveled at the beautiful geography of China and the many interesting aspects of the culture. They have been intrigued lately with the traditional festivals and celebrations that occur throughout the year. We have researched the Chinese New Year and the importance role it plays in setting the tone for the year in the culture. we have had discussions about the this being the year of the tiger, lucky money, food, red envelopes and how the decorations are all a very valuable part of the celebration. I would love to continue their learning by decorating my classroom, and giving my students a traditional Chinese New Year experience. It would help to culminate our unit and be an unforgettable treat that ,I feel, they will remember for years to come.
