Many of my students come from families with food insecurities. Some arrive at school too late for breakfast or they may get hungry throughout the day. For some students, meals at school are the only meals they will have to eat.
Having snacks available for my students helps them to be able to concentrate on their schoolwork. It also helps me as I build relationships with the students who may stop by for a snack initially but will later reach out for assistance in other ways. Pregnant students often need to eat more frequently to help them deal with morning sickness.
