My students live in a low-income area and do not have the support they need to get books appropriate for their age levels and interests. The majority of them have never completed reading a book because they don't have many from which to choose. Many students at my school have been or are currently involved in outdoor activities and enjoy hunting, fishing, and nature. I also work with students with special needs and low reading comprehension skills. All the options and support they have will greatly empower them, and I strongly believe that options are what my students need when it comes to piquing interest in reading.
