Each student has unique strengths that involve being incredible problem-solvers, others are creative thinkers, and many have a deep passion for learning. While they are considered 鈥渉igh-functioning,鈥 they still face challenges with everyday life skills such as cooking, budgeting, navigating public transportation, and communicating effectively in different settings. I am inspired by their determination. They come to our program ready to try, sometimes fail, and try again. Yet, they always demonstrate persistence and a smile. For many of them, the lessons we work on together are more than just 鈥渟kills鈥. They are stepping stones to confidence, self-reliance, and the ability to become active, valued members of their communities.
