My students are comprised of 10 sub separate ABA strand classrooms, 9 general education classrooms, and 1 inclusion classroom. My students are eager explorers who are looking for an outlet to express themselves musically. I believe that all students can learn music, and need the right tools. My students have hidden musical talent that is waiting to be discovered. As many of my students have Autism and some are non-verbal, music provides them with just the right outlet to express themselves. As our school has a Social Emotional Learning focus, music grants our students the ability to gain self-awareness through exploring emotions in music, awareness of others, and awareness of the larger context surrounding them. I am looking forward to their being able to interact with classroom instruments in a way that is wholesome, and gives them a partnership with other students that they would otherwise struggle to attain.
