I teach 10th grade biology in Lowell, MA - one of the largest urban school districts in MA. There are over 50 languages spoken in my school community. My community struggles with many of the same issues all urban schools face: lack of supplies, lack of space, and poverty. The issues that we face may limit options we have, but they do not define my school or my students. Biology is an inherently hands on subject - I like to get my students working with each other and moving around the classroom and the lab as much as possible. My students deserve to have the same access to supplies and space that students have in other districts across the state.
