Our school is a small neighborhood school in a primarily low-income area. For many of my kids, their experience with the most basic art tools is limited. However, when they are introduced to new mediums, they can astonish you! Today kids are under so much pressure to pass standardized tests, we tend to ignore the fact that many of them are gifted in ways more than just academically. I have many kids who light up in art class are just itching to create something, and I want to provide them with an opportunity to make art with more than just the usual old crayons and markers.
